Position Title: Writer / Data Analyst / Assistant for new website -- disclosures.org
Position Type: Full time
Length of job: 3 months, with the potential for full-time work
Join a brand new San Francisco based venture, disclosures.org.
We are taking all of the public disclosures from governments around the world and putting them online. We need your help to gather the documents, understand them, organize them, and write about them.
I am the founder of several successful VC backed Silicon Valley / San Francisco startups, mostly built on public data, on which I still work full time. (Here is my linked-in: https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidcpetersen/)
We'll get the data by filing Freedom of Information Act requests with cities, counties, states, and the United States federal government. The real challenge of this position is organizational: You'll have to keep track of all of the governments, find their emails, send them correspondence, keep track of the responses, and then organize the information they send us and add it to disclosures.org
Position Duties:
Review FOIA requests and provide deep analysis of information
Structure and execute sophisticated search strategies
Parse PDFs for interesting facts and summarize them in a few sentences
Write broad analysis of political data
Qualifications:
Experience with gathering, analyzing, and filtering information.
Excellent proofreading and analytical skills
Possess strong written and oral communication skills
Independent, able to self-manage and work with minimal supervision
Requirements:
Writing in grammatically perfect English

Creativity
Work ethic
